Tutor Training classes are held on Zoom or in-person.

We invite you to attend a Volunteer Tutor Meet & Greet session, during which you will receive an overview of the program. Afterward, you can choose one of these training blocks that fits your schedule.

Our new, self-paced tutor training schedule:

The 15-hour training series provides you with all of the tools and information that you will need to support an adult learner in one-to-one instruction. And you’ll be in a cohort of other beginning tutors—just like you.

Training begins with a one-hour introductory session with Literacy DuPage staff, followed by 12 hours of self-paced instruction offered by LiteracyWorks. During the second meeting, you will receive your learner match, and the third session is an opportunity to fully settle in and have all of your questions addressed, after you have begun working with your learner.
